about

Back in the early 80's The Swinging Laurels were a fresh faced electro pop band using synths, drum machines and brass. It was a unique combination at the time and soon saw them being headhunted by a number of major record labels. They released a couple of indie offerings: A Taste Of EP on Dining Out Records and Peace of Mind / Swing the Cat on Albion Records, the latter of which attained a Number 1 position in the Independent Charts.
Soon they were snapped up by major label giant Warner Brothers but just prior to signing the very influential Radio 1 DJ offered them a famous John Peel session in 1982 - It was baking hot June day at the BBC Maida Vale Studios in London when the tracks were recorded and this is the first time that this session has been aired since it's original broadcast. This session was produced for the BBC by Dale "Buffin" Griffin ex Mott The Hoople drummer.

Session recorded: 03/06/1982
First broadcast: 28/06/1982
Repeat broadcast: 22/07/1982
