Produced by Steve Levine for WEA records at Red Bus studio London. This track featured the vocal talents of a certain Boy George. This version was never released as George's label, Virgin Records, were not happy with his spot of moonlighting. Boy George was a self proclaimed Laurels fan and invited them along as special guests on two sell out Culture Club UK tours in the Spring and Autumn of 1983. By this time Boy George and Culture Club were a global phenonomen. Despite attracting healthy Radio One airplay the single was restricted to the lower reaches of the national chart. This is the white label version and only a few physical copies of the test pressings still exist.
The record sleeve was conceived and photographed by top lens woman Jill Furmanovsky. The session involved hours of painstaking preparation with Jill applying each brush stoke to Gaz's coat and backdrop. It is based on the iconic self portrait by Dutch master Van Gogh.
Gaz Birtles: Lead Vocals / alto saxophone
